I get the impression that Ukraine did the damage as a warning to the Russian troops in the region, so not to destroy the bridge but send a warning that they can, with the idea of scaring many of the troops to want to pull back into Russia, because if they feel the bridge could be destroyed at any times whiles Ukraine is pushing from the north, that's not a good position for those Russian troops to be in.
So this could be about creating panic with the Russian troops in the region with the intention of them revolting and pulling back and it could make sense if Ukraine keeps pushing inwards from the north, the less Russian troops they have to fight to take that land back, the more lives that can be saved on both sides.
Also, like the video points out, Ukraine will have to keep the moderates onside, otherwise, it's one thing taking back Crimea, it's another to hold it if a lot of the people in that regions keep revolting against them, also, the panic could push many of the Russian people in those regions out, that will make the task easier for Ukraine as the percentage of people in that region will be more pro Ukraine.
