@seemorebutts292 Weak argument and Europeans are not going to kiss American arse for billions of years because of help from the past, that debt has been repaid.
Beside, the US didn't help out of the goodness of their heart, they did because they got pushed into it, the Nazis likely would have gone after the US once they took Europe and Russia out and they would have had a lot more resources to take the US on, self-interest is the only thing the US showed, in that sense, you should be thanking the Japanese for that.
Silvio Berlusconi, whats he got to do with the EU? the EU isn't crazy enough to allow him anywhere near power in the EU, that he was the leader of Italy is a different thing but Italy have been paying the price for not getting it's act together, hence the slow growth, what they need is a lot of reforms.
So next time, don't compare an apple to an orange lol.

@ynk1611 Actually that's not true, everything more or less has to go through the European Parliament which the public has a vote on, there is little to nothing the EU Commission can pass without getting the go ahead from the European Parliament, think of the Commission a bit like the Civil Servants, in fact when you think about it, it's worse in the US because they can pass laws without the public having any say or Parliament for that matter.
Because Poland and Hungary are slipping on the democratic front doesn't mean the EU isn't democratic, it just means some regions are slipping on that front and that could happen in any nation with regions, beside, there is a lot of pressure going on those two countries to change and if it comes to it, I suspect the EU would boot them out if needed but chances are, the people in the countries will put pressure on the governments to change, hence the longer game over the next election or two.

I think the term that a country is a democracy isn't very accurate because some are more so than others, to me, the US and UK are quite weak as democracies go if you look at the systems closely and in the case of the US, it's becoming more of an oligarchy than a democracy where the only way to power is wealth, frame and connections.
The only time the government listen is when it's election time, they'll promise the earth like lower taxes, higher spending and all that bull, once the election is over, the lies cone in, the only other time the government listens is with a big enough protest movement that pushes them to listen, apart from that, they don't seem to care what the average American thinks until the next election where they'll feed them a lot of promises and hope only to break them after the election and the cycle continues lol.
What we want is a scale from all democracies from 1 to 100 on how democratic they really are.
Anyway, the real problem in the US is patriotism, flag waving and automatically assuming they are the best without question and not researching to see if that is true or not, it's designed in a way to blind Americans from the truth back home on how things are not as good as the system wants them to think but unfortunately for most Americans, they only know what the system tells them and that's how they want it, things will only get better when people start opening their eyes, until then, the system will continue to screw them over.
