Any help that African countries can get to help them develop should always be welcomed but I do worry about the debt trap that China is doing on African countries, that could turn many African countries away from China longer term.
The EU is quite different, it doesn't seem like there is any debt trap going on, also, geography is probably a massive advantage for both the EU and Africa as they are more or less next to each other and that does allow a lot more interesting project to happen that are useful for both people, trade is also another thing, most trade tends to be with nearby countries.
If the EU and African countries do this right, there could be a lot of benefits for both sides, renewable energy is probably a good start as the EU is pushing hard on a green agenda and Africa is rich in many areas of clean energy that with some help could benefit a lot of people on both continents.
Also as with what was said, I do think the people should be involved in both the EU and Africa on what projects are being done, the benefits to the people and the cost of the project.
