  1. Try telling that to the millions of people that have solar or wind energy on their homes that it's irrelevant. The irony is, for about £6,000, I could build a solar system on my house that would cover all my energy need and generate way too much in summer, assuming you install the setup yourself which works out much cheaper. The problem isn't renewable energy, the real problem is storing that energy, if battery tech was much better, a modest solar setup would be enough to generate all the electric needs of your house and push a little more, you could cover all your energy needs, heating, electric car and so on. So yes, renewables isn't irrelevant but it's not prime time until battery tech catches up so we can store a lot of energy.
