I tend to find that things happen depending on need and in the case of the EU, it came about because of the aftermath of world war two and the changing political and economic realities in the world, mainly the US being a power in the world. Because of that, it's unlikely the US would fall apart, it's also unlikely the EU to fall apart and as for Brexit, as much as the UK seems to want to leave, they are making a right meal of leaving because reality of leaving is kicking in but Brexit might still happen but unless the realities of what the Brexiteers have promised comes true, the UK or what's left of it is likely going to rejoin the EU again at some point. If we look around the world, we are seeing political and economic unions popping up around the world, most of them are at a very early stage whereas the EU isn't, I suspect we are going to see more of these with many countries grouping together simple to protect their political and economic interest in a world where we have super powers like the EU, US, China and so on and this isn't because people want it but it's more about the realities of the changing world, the irony being is the UK could be a perfect test case to see that.

  2.  @Lando-kx6so  I doubt that, for one, I doubt Canada and New Zealand would want to be part of it especially with how the UK is going, Australia would but they are scared of China so they have their reasons, as for the Commonwealth, it's just a talking shop, all the countries in it are too different with very different views and to spread across the world for that to work. If you look at every country on this planet, almost all have closer ties and does most of it's trade with nearby countries, that isn't going to change any time soon because of economic interest, it makes a lot more sense to trade with nearby countries because of cost saving reasons with the exception of poor countries that have cheap labour. So really, this Canzuk and the Commonwealth is just a pipe dream that won't amount to anything.
