There isn't a thing as special relationship, ask a lot of Americans and they won't know what we are talking about, it's a thing they like to talk about in the UK to make it seem like we have more power and relevant then we actually have, and even if there was such a thing, it's very one-sided in favour of the US. The irony is, when we were in the EU, it didn't have to be that way, we could do what was in our interest and the EU's interest, even if it's not in US interest, but now with Brexit, the UK is in a much weaker position that we can't afford to get on the wrong side of the EU and US, and we've not exactly been on friendly terms with the EU of late
