If history is any indications, sanctions are usually a slow burner that the real impact kicks in 2 or 3 years into the sanctions, basically, not enough time has passed for the sanctions to really bit and the impact will be greater once European countries move away from buying oil and gas from Russia, in other words, things are likely to get much worse for Russia over the next year or so.
On top of that, the EU and US are likely going to target China and India next, with the intention of getting them to not buy or to reduce buying oil and gas from Russia with the aim of isolating Russia, there are many ways the west could do that, maybe tariffs on goods and services coming out of China and India based on a percentage on oil and gas they are buying from Russia, in other words, cancelling out the benefits of that.
But there is no way the west is doing all this so that China and India can profit from it, I suspect once European countries lower the percentage of oil and gas they buy from Russia enough, China and India will be the west next target.
