Chrish, thats not true, the UK have had one of the best deals out of the EU, we have by far the most op-outs and David Camaron wanted even more, honestlly, the UK is asking for too much and as it is, we've very likely lost some or all of thoes op-outs even if we want to stay in the EU now.
Doesn't the EU have a deal with most Afircan countries called EBA which offers them duty free and quota and free access to the EU market?
The EU have already said they wont do another deal like they did with Switzerland and beside, I doubt the EU is going to give the UK what it wants if it harms the 4 freedoms, we should also remember that the UK is a leaving member, they are going to want to make sure that we are worse off then being a member, that is a given.
The truth is, no deal on offer is as good as what we already had and now it's just about limiting the damage done, single market and custom union is the least damageing as I doubt the EU would let us stay in the EU with all our op-outs now but as we know, that would mean the UK becoming more or less a vassal state.
All the other deals are pretty bad really and offer nothing even close to what we get now.

I say it's at 50/50 on Scotland and Northern Ireland leaving the UK, in any case they don't have to rush, they can see how things go but one thing I do know is that a bad Brexit will help the inderpendence movment in both Scotland and Northern Ireland.
I suspect the UK goverment is going to have to sens a lot of cash to both regions just to keep them in the UK and guess who will cop that one?, the north part of England because they voted the most for Brexit and the goverment can simple say to them, stop complaining, you voted for this.
As for the EU, the euroseptics have been pridicting the EU will implode for decades now, don't they ever get tired of being wrong all the time? lol, even here with Brexit, the Brexiteers thought many other EU members would follow the UK and that the EU would be devided on this, what we are seeing is that there is little to no threats of anyone else wanting to follow the UK with all the mess thats going on in the UK and as for the EU, they seem quite united when it comes to Brexit.
I love how the Brexiteers keep getting it wrong time after time. :)

Hoggarth say remainers are trying to block the will of the people where in reality all we are trying to do is give the public the final say on the exit terms, not unreasonable really.
At the end of the day, the leave side promised a lot on Brexit that they are not delivering on, before the Brexit vote, they made it seem like we could have all the benefits of EU membership without any of the cost, cake and eat it and all that, now it's all hard Brexit, you have to wonder how many people voted for Brexit based on lies that we would get all the benefits of EU membership without any of the cost and how many have changed thier minds.
In the end, the remainers are just holding the leavers to account for what they promised and at the end of the day, the leave voters wanted this, it's up to them to come up with a plan that works without hurting the intrest of the public and it's up to remainers to hold them to account on all that, I'm sure they would love for remainers to shut up and get with the program but why should they?, the leave side have made a right mess of Brexit by promising more then they can deliver, they firmly own this problem.

CAP protects European agricultural produce because of cheap labour, if it was a free for all, European workers wouldn't stand a chance agaisnt cheap labour from the likes of Africa and China and in some cases you need some protection to protect jobs and industrys, at least until wages are more reasonble in the other countries, it's not ideal and I would perfer if the protections ware gone but we are not living in an ideal world.
No goverment would pay so much into the EU pot unless we was getting a lot more out of it, ironiclly, Brexit will make that all the more clearer.
We also need to start realising in the UK that these talks with the EU are not on equal terms, the UK is the much smaller player but we keep acting like we are an equal to them, it's sad and funny to watch, the EU is holding all the cards, all the leverage, they have every since we signed Article 50 which by the way was always designed to put the one leaving on the backfoot like it's done to the UK.
Also people seem to think that if remainers get onboard or if we had a Brexiteer PM and start talking tough with the EU that it would change anything, it wont because the fundermental problems are still there, the UK wants cake to eat and the EU wont bend on it's fore freedoms as that would risk a brake up of the EU, sooner or later we will realise this in the UK.

Also, unlike Canada which are not leaving the EU, the EU needs to be seen as giving the UK a worse deal then we had in the EU, in any event, the EU already offerd a Canada style deal if we wanted that but clearly that deal is far worse then the deal we have in the EU.
As for the 40 billion or so the UK have to pay the EU, that isn't really debateable or can't be taken off the table by the UK because if they don't honor that, the UK would be braking EU and international law, good luck getting good deals around the world if we can't be trusted to honor deals we've made, anyway, the best the UK could do with that is to lower it so it's not 40 billion.
James, the EU have most of the leavage in these talks, hardly any EU member seems to want to help the UK out like the Brexiteers thought they would, as for the likes of Italy, boy how you people get it so wrong, yes they are unhappy about the current running of the EU but thats a far cry from the EU sinking, it's mostly just disageements among members in the EU not a sinking ship as you like to think and how you can tell that, for all the talk of these popularist movment gaining ground in the EU, did it really change anything?
All we are seeing on Brexit is a disunited UK and a united EU, who would've pridicted that before the vote when Brexiteers thought the EU would be on it's knees now wheres it's the UK thats on it's knees, it's high time you wake up to reality James and see whats going on, you don't realise this but Trump, Brexit and Putin have been a big help for the EU and they don't even realise that yet which is funny.

All the remainers are doing is holding the leavers to account on what they promised us, I've not seen them weaken our hand with the EU because in truth, we didn't really have much of an hand to begin with.
The irony is that the EU seems to do best when it's in crisis mode and allows for real change, we should also remember that a lot of the problems the EU and it's members are facing, the US is facing also, this is a much bigger problems thats affecting a lot of the west not just the EU and to me it boils down to inequality.
As for Brexit, the EU have really not had to do anything, just wait and listen to whats going on in the UK which seems to be all consummed by Brexit and doesn't seem to know what it want.
I have to say, the way the UK is acting, you would think they want to join the EU not leave it because they seem to want all the benefits of EU membership but can't seem to accept the cost of it, this is why the EU isn't bending to the will of the UK because what they are asking for is too high, the EU was never going to give the UK any cake.

Volker Hett, I suspect they will wait till after March next year so it wont matter about the UK as they will not need to vote on this as they will be pushed out of decision making in the EU and that will likely be the case even if the UK gets an extention, it will likely mean the UK having no say in EU policy making after March.
The other EU members are key to getting it passed and that will take some time but thats democracy for you, it's painfully slow.
James, it's a contract that was made, the UK can't afford to not pay it no matter what happens with the Brexit talks, the UK goverment is trying to use it as levrage but it doesn't wash with the EU as they know where they stand with that, in any case, even if the UK doesn't pay that, the EU will likely get a lot tougher on the UK and get it out of us by other means and as we know, there are many ways to skin a cat.
The reality is, the UK will pay because they can't afford it's word to take any damage after Brexit as they will need to get a lot of good deals once out of the EU, how many of them will be up for it if they can't trust what the UK says will stick?
In any case, the EU is playing this game very smart, a lot smarter then the UK goverment, have you noticed how the EU keeps the British public on side but wont give the goverment what it really wants?, the EU for the most part don't really have to do anything here because the UK is in such a mess with bickering among ourselfs.

Silencio, it's a bluff from the UK goverment but it's a very risky move as the EU doesn't seem to be buying it, the UK have already wasted too much time on Brexit and the clock is ticking down, the goverment needs a plan that isn't pie in the sky that the EU can buy.
As for the UK goverment, the problem with the Switzerland or Norway deal is that it brakes the red lines the UK goverment have and I doubt the EU is going to brake with it's four freedoms for a leaving member, in other words, the UK goverment needs to be more realistic with what deal it can get because so far it's doing a bad job at that.
In any case, the only one that seems to work is single market and custom union, that solve our trade deals with the EU and the rest of the world, it solves the Irish boarder, it does the least harm to the UK but the problem for the UK is that it more or less makes us a vassal state of the EU, which begs the question, why not stay in the EU and have done with it if the EU and it's members will let us stay because it's clear that all deals we get are going to be worse then what we had in the EU and the UK had a very good deal thanks to it's op-outs, something we have lost now.
