This is interesting because we are talking about an EU and NATO member and could change the dynamics of the west response, especially if this isn't a one-off.
Question is, was this a mistake on the Russian side, if so, why would they be firing rockets so close to the boarder, knowing the risk? Was this Putin's way of sending a message to Poland and the west? It's hard to say at this stage but a lot more news on this is going to roll out over the coming days.
If this ends up not being a one-off, things could escalate very quickly as the EU and NATO would have to respond more directly, otherwise, it will weaken the resolve of the west and many countries will start to wonder, what is the point of NATO and the EU if they don't act and respond to protect its members.
It's going to be interesting to see how the EU and NATO responds to this and if this is a one off from Russia or if we'll see more in the near future, if it's a one-off, things can be defused quite quickly, if it's not, things could escalate just as quickly, either way, Russia needs to be very careful with its decisions here, because they are no match for the EU or NATO, especially if either one are forced to use their economic muscle on the military.
