  1.  @xax8918  True, especially as they become closer to joining the EU because that will create political and economic stability, it will bring in a lot of inwards investment and the EU alone will throw a lot of money at the country to help develop and modernize the country so they catch up with the west. On top of all that, there is likely going to be a lot of money from the west to help rebuild Ukraine after the war.

I think with everything that's going on, there's a fair chance that big changes can happen in Ukraine once the dust settles on the war, also, with the EU being more open in allowing more countries to join, that should help to develop the country and improve a lot of the political situation on things like the rule of law, but it will take time, the EU for one isn't ready to allow other countries to join until it reforms its self and even then, the situation with the war will need to be resolved before EU membership can begin but it's not going to happen overnight and will take years. But from what I've seen over the decades, the countries that do the major political and economic reforms needed sooner rather than later, tend to benefit by joining the EU a lot sooner and having impressive economic growth, the EU can only open the door, it's really up to the country to make a lot of the changes needed with the help of the EU showing them what changes are needed.
