It's a complex issue when it comes to corporations having enough freedoms to do what they want and consumers making their own choice.
The problem is that I don't think it's a good idea to allow some corporations to get so big and powerful, that they control so much information that people have access too, that could become dangerous and could become a threat to democracy, in the case of the US, corporations already more or less run the show and have the government in the back pocket, that's only going to get a lot worse in the US unless the government and the people put their foot down on regulating them.
Clearly, this won't happen in the US that easy, but pressure is building thanks to the EU and other countries getting tough on these corporations, but clearly, a lot more needs to be done, because if we allow corporations to grow unchecked, we are going to end up in a Blade Runner like future where governments are too weak and corporations run everything, and because of how the system is designed in the US, we are talking about a few hand-picked corporations that run everything, that puts all other companies at a disadvantage and that is too much power in too few hands that the public have little to no say in the running of them.
