Let's be honest, the reason the north of England voted the way it did was because of the wealth divide from north and south of England and little to do with the EU, so for the most part it was a protest vote, unfortunately for us in the north, we might get less money now, either way, most of this was down to inequality, it's usually that what always causes these problems which really we should of been blaming the British government not the EU because that doesn't really change being in or out of the EU. On the plus side, all this mess might be a wake up call for governments to start listening to it's people and doing what's in there interest.

  2. DrMontague I was just going to say that, a lot of people with intelligence and talent would stay up north for long if there wasn't as much of an economic divide from north and south, now there are more reasons to get, also he's kind of proving the point of what's wrong with the region.

DrMontague I agree and it's only been getting worse, inequalities been getting worse for along time now and governments are doing little to nothing to stop that, I sometimes wonder, what are they waiting for because if things keep going the way they are doing, there's going to be a big revolution in the decades to come. But I have a funny feeling in the UK and EU, the wake up call might of already happened, they can't do business as usual or things will get worse, so things might start improving for all of us in Europe, but we'll only know over the next decade or so. But as we know, most of the vote had little to do with the EU, it was a protest vote because people disillusioned with how things are, the feel the rich are taking too much of the wealth and politicians don't listen to the people anymore, ultimately, all this boils down to inequality.

DrMontague I agree, the working class just want someone to blame and I don't blame them for that, the EU became a easy scapegoat because of how it's portrayed in the media, politicians don't help much either, we've pretty much had a one sided debated about the EU for the last decade or two. But nothing is going to change for the working class in or out of the EU unless the British government's listens to what the people want, I like to know who they will blame if the same problems are still there when out of the EU, maybe they might learn after that that they've been taken for a ride, either way, we might end up with less resources to sort those problems out of the EU than in. The next 10 years are going to be some interesting times over here.

DrMontague Yeah there is that, Labour need to get back into the game because it's not good for democracy to just have the Conservatives as the only credible choice, but with everything up in the air at the moment, if Liberal Democrats play there cards right, they might become a credible force in politics. So far I've heard that Corporate tax is being cut and tax rise and spending cuts, I can't see how this isn't going to hit the working class people, I can understand Corporate tax, that's being done because the UK government is scared that some companies will pull out of the UK and into the EU market, but businesses paying less tax won't go down well with the working class people, more so because it could be there taxes that have to cover the lost tax that businesses should be paying. What I find really ironic, this is part of the problem that got us into this mess in the first place, the rich and big businesses not paying their way, will governments every learn because it seems like they are doomed to repeat the same mistakes.

  6. DrMontague I think we're pretty much out of the frying pan and into the fire already in the UK, well no to be honest that's not true, the fire begins if and when Article 50 is signed, I would be curious to see how markets react to that because that's would be the point of no return.

DrMontague It's not really the Brits as such, I'm English and lived in the north of England all my life, it's the mass media, since 9/11, the media have been going on a hate campaign with anything that isn't native with the UK and have really ramp up their hate for the EU, most people are only getting one side of the story and as I'm sure you know, tell a lie enough time and many will believe it, the mass media is doing a lot of harm in the UK and US and should really be held accountable for lies and twisting of the truth.

DrMontague Who knows, maybe they did more research on the EU and thought it was better to stay in then leave or maybe they didn't fall for the lies the leave side was saying, but what really surprised me was the young generation of people voting more to stay in, that got me by surprise, I expected them to fall for the lies and be hostile towards the EU but I can understand why they would want to stay in, being in the EU gives the younger generation of people more opportunities in life in the UK and throughout Europe, if these views resonate long term then it's good news for the future.

Richard Bradley What's that got to do with the EU?, what you are complaining about is more to do with the Conservative government, Margaret Thatcher to be precise, most of that was Westminster that decided all that and the same with how wealth is divided in the UK, none of that actually changes outside the EU unless the government rethinks its way of thinking, also a lot of problems people complain about in the UK, the US have the same problems as well as many other countries that are not EU members. What I want to know is who is the next scapegoat people like you will use to blame now that you we could be out of the EU, I'm sure you'll find one, it's what people like you like to do, deflect blame elsewhere and not look in the mirror.
