That's not too bad, I think Bill Gates once said we wouldn't need more than 640k of ram lol.

Eileen the Crow That floppy is better than what I had, I had an Amiga and you could store around 880k per disk lol, mind you it's amazing what they could do with limited hardware and storage, I did get a hard drive of 60MB and thought I had more storage then I would ever need, ah such simple times lol.

***** I remember how expensive they was at the time, I think I paid £130 for 60MB drive and that was on special offer, I think it was around £160 originally, how things have changed.

Jeff DeWitt My brother bought a 1.2GB drive in 1995, can't remember how much it cost but all the PC cost £2500 so a lot of money back then, I find it remarkable when I was growing up as a kid in the 80's and 90's and seeing how much progress has been made with technology, in them days, people would of thought we was crazy if we said computing power would make the leaps it's done and that almost everyone will be using one in one form or another, all in the space of about 30 years.

Jeff DeWitt I remember reading up a story about a 5 MB hard drive IBM did in the 60's I think, it was big, but the thing is, it looked like a normal hard drive with needle and spinning platter, it kind of looked the size of about 4 big records, the picture I saw was where it was on a crate being moved onto a fan, I think it cost $100,000 at the time, just goes to show how much progress has really happened over the last 50 years or so. progress seems to be speeding up as well, I suspect the human race is going to advance more in the next 100 years then we have in all our history.

Jeff DeWitt I would of loved to of seen one of those hard drives at the time run, being that they was so big, I couldn't imagine them spinning at a fast rate still must of been noises. That's true about storage capacity, we're almost at that point already for many people and I suspect it will be something people don't worry about.

Jeff DeWitt I'll have to check on YouTube see if I can find any, I would imaging that it spins at a much slower speeds than modern hard drives do considering the size of them.
