If it makes you feel any better, the UK could be following in your footsteps thanks to Brexit because we are already seeing small signs of weakening food standards, workers rights and many other things and the government has been under funding the health care service for about a decade until Covid kicked off which put a lot of pressure on them to invest more in it. I get a feeling that the Conservative government was trying to make the health care service so bad in the hope that the British people would get fed up with it and not care if it gets pushed out and replaced with private health care, I suspect the US will put pressure on the UK to weaken many of these things when it comes to a trade deal because the UK has a much weaker hand to play with compared to the EU. All of this couldn't happen when the UK was in the EU with its high minimum standards but now it could be a free for all and the irony being, standards might go down so that the UK can compete better, hence cutting down on regulations and red tape but that's just another way of weakening standards for the people.
