It's always better to play it safe when it comes to the foods we eat, the EU does that whereas the US seem to have it where it's got to be proven unsafe to not sell on the market.
The truth is, food poisoning is much higher in the US than it is in other developed countries, especially EU countries which have high food standards.
I also have to wonder if any of this has any impact on fat levels of people, the US clearly has a problem compared to other developed countries, that might just be bigger positions, but lower food standards in the US could also play a part.
At the end of the day, the US is very capitalistic, money is all that matters, if they can cut corners to reduce the price of things to generate more money for businesses, the US seems to allow that regardless of safety issues with consumers, the EU on the other hand is much tougher on these things and I prefer how the EU does it by putting people first.
