  1. It really does depend on region, even within a country, and I suspect Sicily is a lot cheaper to live than Milan in the same country, and we see that in most countries where one region can be a lot cheaper then another.

  2. Yeah my brother said the same thing in 1991 when he visited the US, now everything seems so expensive in the US.

  3.  @classicallpvault  That's probably because of bad policies, also, many goods don't have the standard 20% VAT and is much lower I think on certain health things and foods. I also find it remarkable how many goods you can buy in Europe actually hold up well compared to the US when it comes to price, when these goods include 20% VAT.

  4. True, it's a bit like the UK but the more south you go, the more expensive it is. There's a big difference in living cost from region to region even in a country, but Americans do seem to be getting screwed over in a lot of areas that are far more expensive than they should be and probably why they need higher wages to compensate for it.
