I never understand this mentally of being British, Italian or something else, I mean really, who cares, at the end of the day, we're human and what really matters are standards and trying to improve those standards that benefit us all.
I find the idea of saying I'm British or something else is a bit tribal and when you think about it, countries are not that far off like that with us vs them mentalities which is kind of primitive when you think about it.
At the end of the day, I'm human and I likely have a lot more in common with the average Brits and other Europeans then I do with say the upper elites from the rich and politicians and if you go down to basics, all we all really wants is for a better quality of life and to be treated fairly in the system, that resonant in pretty much all countries, more so modern ones.
In the end, if I have to be something then I'm human first, European second, British third and English fourth and all this nationalist and patriotisms does is divide us as a people which is probably why things are so messed up today as insaid of fixing a lot of the problems, we're fighting each other over primitive ideals of my gang is better than your gang isn't too far from the truth with countries, and we see a lot of that with the UK and US.
