@joansparky4439 The problem is that after the second world war, many European countries had a clean slate to start anew, the UK didn't and now the UK is paying the price for that with a system that rarely repensents the intrest of the British public and I suspect that as long as the Conservatives and Labour are in power, the system wont change, we need new blood in the system and that really comes down to the people voting that in.
What makes it worse is that the system is designed around a two party system that makes it very hard for new parties to take on the old guard, I suspect, the only way real change is going to happen in the UK is by revolution and ironiclly, Brexit could be the trigger for that but for the time being, it's early days and we're seeing no real signs of that yet.
You're right about the UK, US and Australia and I suspect the reason the EU is doing better on this is because no EU member would share power with others unless the system is fair and democratic, the irony is that for the EU and it's members to integrate more, it has to become more democratic, established systems like the UK and US don't and in fact seem to be going in the wrong direction.
