For me, it all started with the austerity measures over a decade ago, that created a lot of anger among the population, they were looking for scapegoats to blame and the government in their usually wisdom, blames the EU for all the problems in the UK, many Brits not knowing their arse from their elbow bought into it and then Brexit happened and not just any Brexit, more or less a hard Brexit and with that, things have just been getting worse and worse from Brexit, the pandemic mismanagement and now the war in Ukraine which has sent energy and inflation up.
To make matters worse, Brexit opened up the door to letting the loons take over the Conservative Party with the ERG movement, that's when things really got bad, hence why it doesn't matter who the leader is when the ERG are pulling the strings and people wonder why they keep lurching from one disaster after another and the thing is, it's not going to be easy to remove them, Brexit allowed them to get their foot in the door and now are taking full advantage of that, Brits thought it would only impact Brexit matters but that's not how it works, it impacts pretty much all political and economic life and that's more or less what we are seeing.
The only way I can see solving this is an election and even then, the conservative Party will need to be wiped out at the elections to clean out the ERG, otherwise they will bring that Party down over the long run, it's remarkable that the Tories and the British people didn't see the can of worms Brexit was opening up and now it's too late, the damage is done and it's not going to be easy to fix.

It's got nothing to do with catching a brake, the blame goes squarely on the British people, I mean, how many disasters does this government need to do before the people vote them out of power? They've had a few chances already but because of Brexit, they kept voting for the Tories, worse yet, they give them a majority.
It's hard to feel sorry for the people when it's the people that keep putting these clowns into power.
Also, did the British people honestly think that letting the loons take over the Tory party was only going to impact Brexit? That's not how it works, the ERG got its foot through the door and are taking advantage of that by trying to deregulate the UK and change the entire political and economic landscape of the UK.
Brexit opened up a massive can of worms and the British people should take responsibility for that as they allowed it to happen, the rest is just the government lurching from disaster after disaster but that's because the British people allowed the loons to take power, so I don't know why this comes as a surprise when a lot of Brits helped to make this happen.
