I imagine that programming is going to get to the point with A.I. that it will be a bit like the Holo Deck in Star Trek where you give the computer as much or as little detail in every area for it to work with to get the task you want done.
Now clearly, the more detail you give it, the more accurately it's going to output what you want, but yeah, I can see A.I. being very useful for programmers, game developers and a lot of other things in the decades to come and what I would love to see from A.I. is where it goes through the code, fixes bugs and optimizes the code to run better.
Some will say it will never happen or A.I. wont get good enough to do these tasks, but if you look at how quickly A.I. is developing just over the last 5 years, you really have to wonder where it's going to be over the next few decades, especially as a lot more money and talent is being thrown at it and with that, I suspect it's going to be able to solve almost any task we give it long term.
Personally, when it comes to programming or development of software and games, A.I. should not be used to replace our creativity but to help us get the job done that we head to the project we want to create, a lot of people have good ideas but don't have the skills to make it happen, A.I. could go a long way in helping on that.
