This isn't looking good for the US, I have to wonder, did Trump honestly expect the EU and China to just take it and not put tariffs on US goods?, is he really that clueless about how the world really works, the EU have an economy of around the same size as the US and so does China, both of them can do a lot of damage to the US if the US pushes this and it's made all the worse because all these other countries can trade with each other whiles the US is getting tariffs on them from many countries.
In the end, it's the US thats likely to come out worse off with this because others like the EU and China will just look elseware and invest in other countries at the expense of the US, this could get a lot worse for the US if Trump pushes for more tariffs which will force the EU and China to do the same back but I suspect it wont come to that because, one set of tariffs is one thing, another set is an all diffrent ball game that I don't think any country have done since the 1930's and look how well that went, the irony being is that it was the US that started that one as well with Italy and France if I recall.
In any case, there is no winners in trade wars and always losers from all sides, the problem for the US is that they are trying to take on too many powers around the world that can and will fight back which means the US becomes the biggest loser out of all this, anyway, it's clear that Trump doesn't have a clue about economics.
