@GoobNoob Well actually you can, economy of scale, in fact the US would be in a better position to do it then smaller countries because of that economy of scale thing. The real problem is taxes, the US has a low rate of taxes and the poor and middle classes are paying the price for that in so many areas compared to places like Europe that has higher taxes but gets a lot of benefits from them.

@iTheGeo Corrupt companies that want to sell their cheapest crap to consumers, so they lobby the government on that and in the US, lobbying is quite powerful. The real problem is that US governments are quite weak when it comes to standing up to them and that's the way Americans seem to want it, the irony is that it's kinda like trading democracy for many smaller dictators which is more or less what companies are, so letting companies get too powerful where they are effective in lobbying the government to get what they want isn't good for the American people and I suspect that is going to get a lot worse as the companies get bigger unless real change in the system happens. Contrast that with Europe where governments play a much bigger part in the economy and social system and it seems to be benefiting Europeans in a lot of areas.

Same in the UK when I was at school in the 90's, I remember it being really good as well, but I can't comment on what it's like today and with everything in the UK, it wouldn't surprise me if standards have gone down lol.

@illyanaamara8536 I think I would have taken in my own meals then have school meals, sometimes I did that in the UK but I didn't really feel I had too because the meals were pretty good and I suspect for many kids, better than what they had at home.

@48grainsoffreedom Yep, the Soviets did a number on the Americans that they are still paying the price for to this day. Either way, I think it's only a matter of time before the US becomes more social like Europe because pretty much every other developed and many developing countries are emulating the European social system, meaning it's a massive success that others want in on it, apart from the US that is but they can thank the Russians for that lol.

Joey Bobby That might be a good thing because if you were getting anything, it likely would be the slop they are serving in the US considering the trade both countries do with each other.

@kingcp0878 It's really up to the people really, no matter what system any of us live under, the people are the ones that have the real power, just that in most cases, we do a poor job at using it because too many of us are divided with in fighting among ourselves, hence why the super rich elites and corporations keep running to the bank at our expense.

@spicytunaroll2437 The irony is, these big events tend to force movements in ways most of us don't realize, I always suspected the EU members will get their act together, a lot more than they have done now but there is always horse-trading going on to get there, it's ironically why really the EU needed more powers in a few areas because this virus has shown many flaws of national governments in how they go about it their own way on a selfish footing, the EU gets a lot of the blame in areas where it doesn't have the power to help and yet the real problems are the members not the EU, arguing only so much and not cooperating and that alone shows us why things need to change for the future. Also, what's going on in the US with US states not cooperating enough to help combat this virus? I'm seeing where states are going it alone and in many cases without much help from the US government, even as far as US states outbidding each other for medical supplies, I could understand this more with the EU countries as we are not as integrated yet but it's surprising to see that in the US.
