I think the real problem is that not enough Americans have passports so they don't see how their system compares to others and just assume theirs is the best, seeing other systems in action is a real eye opener that can get real change done at home, more so if you live in those other countries for some time and this is something most Americans miss out on and why the system is able to screw them over with such a bad system, they simply don't know any better.
