Can't really compare the US to third world countries, the US is bad but not that bad, but you can compare to other modern countries like European ones and that's where the US looks really bad in so many areas and we are seeing a lot of that play out with this crisis.

@lynf5562 True and you have to wonder how that will go now, especially because the world is a lot more interconnected now so what happens in one part of the world has an impact in others, especially the big players like the EU, US and China, the world economy can't afford any of those 3 catching a cold as it would bring the world economy down with it.

Seeing all this from the other side of the Atlantic in the UK, it's showing a massive contrast in how both systems treat the people and the UK is hardly a glowing beacon of light compared to other European countries but from what I've seen, I'm not hearing of people having any major issues getting the government to pay out which the UK government pays out 70% or 80% of the wage, I forgot which now lol, even unemployment benefits seem far better where from what I can see, there isn't a time frame on it before they kick you off just as long as you are looking for a job, one of my friends was on it for years because of other issues he had without feeling the pressure that he would lose that money. I do think Americans really need to take a deep hard look at the system in that they are living under because it seems to serve the rich elites and big corporations at the expense of everyone else and when help is needed, it seems to be the poor and middle classes that get thrown under a bus like we are seeing now and I have to wonder about the longer term impact because hard times are likely ahead and I suspect in the US at least, the government is going to try and pass the burden on the poor and middle classes when really they should be going after the rich elites and big corporations in getting them to pay their fair share of taxes, something I suspect many European countries will likely do after this.

@loostreaks3581 Printing money is a short term fix but it creates a big burden on the people for years, it can help sometimes if done right but the burden this time is likely going to be massive and that could be made all the worse in the case of the US if the reserve status of the Dollar goes during that time.

@tas4u93 I wish I was but no, the pain of this is going to be felt quite hard for the poor and middle classes, especially in the US because it's clear they are passing the burden onto them, Europeans will have much of the same burden, but they might fare better in who is paying for it.

@lynf5562 There are two factors in that, corruption and capitalism with very weak checks to keep it fair and balanced, hence why the big corporations are becoming more powerful and pretty much rewriting laws that work for them and not the people, basically, the US is becoming one big corporation where the people are just slaves to the corporations, a system that governments in the US seem to support.

@lynf5562 I don't know, if you look at the markets, the US market is the one that's gone to crazy highs, many of the others have not so the impact could be more subdued, either way, the way the world economy is, it will impact us all in one way or another but it looks like the US is going to get the worst of it and that's mostly thanks to Trump and his policies. Anyway, I think things could go south pretty quickly early next year, a lot of the support network that's keeping things ticking away will dry up by then and Trump is mostly propping up the stock market because he's reputation is on the line on that one, after the election, if he wins, he's have 4 years to try and fix the mess, that's where they will be willing to let the markets crash, if the Democrats wins, he won't care either way but basically, bubbles are being created in the US because of the election, that isn't the case around the world and why it's likely to be much worse for the US than the world, but don't get me wrong, we are all in the toilet here, just some deeper than others, most don't realize the hard times that are ahead.

@lynf5562 I suspect the reason it's not crashed yet is because of Trump and the Republican Party, he's put his reputation on the line based on how well the stock market is doing the last few years, he can't afford that to crash in an election year whereas I suspect he figures that if he wins the election, he will have 4 years to fix that mess so will let it crash as it's costing a lot of money to support it. I agree that both the Republicans and Democrats are not that great but the Democrats are the lesser of two evils, in truth, Americans need more options when it comes to voting because the two party system isn't working, it's a bit like what we see in the UK with the Conservative and Labour Party, there are other options beside them, but they don't even get a look in, a lot of European countries have many options they can pick and I think they are the lucky ones. Speaking of which, Trump and the Republics always like to say the Democrats are to the left of politics, the irony is, to us Europeans, the Democrats are seen as left wing whereas the Republicans are seen as hard right, I do think Europeans have a better balance in choice from left and right of politics for people to choose then the US does.

@anhurtjv I wouldn't say the US is falling but they are losing thier grip on the world, Trump did a lot of damage to the US around the world and even thought Biden is in power now, it's too little too late, other countries have changed tactics on the US and are looking for alternatives, that doesn't mean the US wont be a power, it's just going to get weaker because of the actions of Trump. But I wouldn't worry, the US is still going to be a rich nation, it's just going to slowly lose control around the world.
