The way I look at it with taxes, the lower the taxes are, the more the lower and middle classes suffer from it, the higher the taxes are within reason and assuming that tax goes back to the people, the better off the people are looked after as it's like a redistribution of wealth to the lower and middle classes. The rich can afford it because paying higher taxes for them is hardly going to change the quality of life for them but it can help a lot of the rest of the public, more so the lower class of people.

@coopsnz1 Depends on the system but if you look at ever modern country, the ones with lower taxes, the poor and middle classes suffer the most whiles the rich benefits the most. European countries tend to have some of the highest taxes and yet they also have some of the highest standards of living and quality of life. Basically, taxes is a distribution of wealth, the higher the taxes, the more there is to distribute, the lower it is, the less to go around whiles more money ends up in fewer hands, we see that from the US to EU countries.
