  1. The Harpe Brothers from East Tennessee were the first recorded serial killers in America. In the late 1700s, they roamed Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, and Illinois. They killed 28 recorded murders. There was more but not recorded. Henry Skaggs of Eastern Kentucky chased them across the state, but they avoided capture.
