@Jin-oq2qu that's an easy one: japan didn't do a 1 child policy, that happened organically. Thus japan had a slow and steady decrease of pop, not a sharp decline as observed in china. Also, japan achieve the status of developed 1st world and only after declined pop numbers which is way easier in gov admn stuff.

Ur not equating the key factor: sharp increse or sharp decrease isn't the same as slow and steady decrese/ increse. One doesn't allow economy and society to adjust and adapt, the other does.

Depends. If u want to attract foreign investment for factories than more pop with lower per capita income is more attractive.

@Jin-oq2qu the only thing that contributes to the fertility rate is women wanting to have babies, or forced to - anything else is conjecture of what makes women want to have them, but conjecture isn't fact. In conclusion, nothing that I wrote are contributors nor did I presented them as such. Misinterpreting is a form of missinfo and propaganda.

If local gov receives subsidies based upon number of people, that's a big corrupt incentive to invent people who don't exist and pocket the money meant for them.
