China is diverting watter from the Himalayas into north because of this. Problem is that it might block the access of neighbouring coutries. Second problem in mono trees, this project might fail miserably in the future because mono trees don't make watter retention. So yes the problem is watter.

@duyataksis5210 There is a study, the massive way of monotree does not stop soil erosion, it just delays a bit. For a green wall to really function its necessary to plant diferent tipes of trees. Go to ecosia website, it explains the whole engeneering.

@omniminokyo2 That's one of the core principles of permaculture. Still doesn't justify uniculture, as has been proven its bound to fail on the long run. At least that's what the latest agronomy studies say.

@omniminokyo2 lol they did. This was a decision of doing mono culture because it's faster and cheaper. China isn't the only one doing this, most country do the same mistake. Politicians tend to dismiss science because of money, china is no exception.

@omniminokyo2 no, mono culture of trees was chosen as a barrier. Why don't you just research on the matter instead of questioning people over yt coment section. Don't take my word for it, there is a lot of literature about permaculture and the why and why nots.
