  1. No one in power exists in a vacuum. If things go south and he becomes a nuissance for whoever, he is out. Chechnia has a culture based on clan tipe of familly and if the agreement betweens clans stops being confy for the top guys, he looses his position very fast. An army is loyal until it isn't.

  2. That's a hard achievement, even if independant it's still vassal to russia. U just need to look a map, it's landocked and the only way to trade would be thru russian infrastructure. This means nominal sovereignty but economically fully dependant on russia.

  3.  @LevisH21  russia having nukes makes no difference in this situation (or ukraine), it's not usable. Russia's economy suffers the dutch desease (not the only country), all putinist strategy revolve around energy market, nothing to do with security. Chechnia in its small independant period realized it couldn't exist without a corridor to med sea, so it went on the atack of dangestan, also nothing to do with religion (they just used the fanatics as strategy), putin knew this and just bought oil rights from a faction. Easy to realize once u research a bit. This is my opinion ofcourse.
