The idea of allowing different ethnic group to celebrate/identify from the accepted (introduce monarch or political class proposition), that's modern. In fact, most countries are a political construct of a tribe imposing identiry over conquered one's. In europe this is very visible, that's why the country is called swedan but the name doesn't account for example the sami or what they would name their land, not the borders reflect that ethnic group. So, in conclusion, the concept of nationality is actually older as a political construction that the ethnic-nation state for most of europe. In fact, countries in europe that are mono-ethnic are the exception not the rule.

@Equilibrium-Manifesto france almost completely erased the basques and spain opted to homoginize via religion, aka, inquisition. In iberia the genetic lines don't line up with language one's, each region (latter conquered and devided into the 2 existing countries) was a product of pre-middle age politics and not linguistic. The co-existance in variety in actually something recent (post dictatorship) phenomenon. So, erasure of one over the other was the rule in spain and portugal. U speak as if past borders and identity groups in europe are the same as presebt time. @Equilibrium-Manifesto I don't agree with any statement of present day erasure. On the contrary the new generations. Identiry isn't stagnant not immutable in time. As u well put it, as opose to a tribal or national identity, europe young generation is now developing a continental identiry (previous generation didn't have such), a lot of it is product of eu policy. Things change over time, identiry and culture aswell.

Bukele didn't fix the crime, he post-poned it to a future where he won't be present. The tipe of prison he built makes the prisoners go crazy (lack of activity, etc) the ones who will eventually be released will be reintroduced in society crazier and more anti-social. It was a gang problem but at this rate it will be a mental health problem of former gang members. The violence will probably be 10x worst when that time comes.
