  16. When the soviets were in power and private business was illegal, the corrupt mafia produced the miracle of product acess to the people. Yes, in this case it applies, as corruption was a consequence of soviet policy but also was beneficial as it answered the people's needs. It might seem contradictory and stupid - but that's how us humans are 🤷‍♀️

  18.  @trartalacrem  I studied humanities (2 degrees one more biz oriented, the other is translation studies). To make a buck I used to help political studies (not the degree name but a general translation) in the part of writing essays etc. I swear to u, what I saw was mostly great people at memorizing but just about it, nothing beyond. Had a lot of "breath in breath out" moments. I had to explain how to make a paragraph to a person with highschool diploma from germany, had to explain basics of textual comentary to people who had passed philosophy etc. There is all sorts in colege, but a lot of peeps just looking for a paper to get a job, to be middle class, but no actual interest.

As for the kids in the video, clearly some of them were there just for the degree, no critical thinking in some answers, not even an atempt to be creative to circumvent censorship. Quite depressing.

  27.  @recoil53  3 - it was investment to put out a show, no one forsee a big economy coming out of it, just one that suficed the objective. 2 - no internet back then: a show had to put where it could be seen. Both did it as both devided berlin - the idea was to show who could rebuild a broken country better meanwhile changing its ideology and culture to be a "coppy" of the soviets/ americans. Yes, the soviets lost ww2, their model was bad. Doesn't mean berlin wasn't a show case for both sides - it was.

U can't pull a broken at war economy (and currency so that ukeaine can import war stuff) if ur own economy is sinking. About sending stuff to israel - palest resistance declared war on germany in the 70s. And since then hasn't sued for peace. Guess u isn't know that one.

The ministry of education this year already spoken of the amount of times russia has changed the history taught in schools for whatever intent. All people everywhere who have had history lessons in state sponsored schools (russian elites go to foreign schools and such) need to revisit history with internet at hand, ministries of education are generally untrustworthy.

I have an austrian friend whose granpa lived most nazism in the woods hiding (in order not to be drafted), he only knew what had happen during all those years post war cause the newspappers he read made no sense to him, he couldn't conect the dots.
