@chadimirputin2282 I agree. He went into this invasion crippled by his own propaganda. It's a risky decision to invade while claiming it's liberating. Worst even is the fact this war (and not all the other wars) is 100% televised and used for western propaganda.

That's why in the end it's the higher ups (if caught) that are prosecuted. But, ofcourse, in this case, it will be a mess.

@ebimayeagagha6215 yes, probably. If you go back to the referendum of independence you'll see that rusian speaking ukranians voted to separate. Don't fall for propaganda on either side.

If they bomb the heck out of ucrain they loose the info war, the idea of liberating. So, they can't impose air superiority. At the same time, not using it makes 10 times harder to invade.

@peterhoffmann2231 win what? A country full of civil unrest. His own country with civil discontent? It's not as simple. Invasion nowadays can backlash big time. The military conquest is 10% of the work.

Politicians sometimes mirror the will of the people. I am sure if my neighbour country was bullying us or invading my countrymen would prefer to distroy it rather than surrender. I would gladly deliver it, but it's not the majority sentiment and the politicians know it. So, it's not so basic as to vilify the politicians in this case. And fyi it happened in the past, broken briges, broken infrastrucrure and a lot of death just to expel an invador who saw itself as a revolutionary liberator.

It's a loose loose situation. It would take forever to convince civilians to cooperate with an invading force. Russia doesn't have forever because it is being financially blocked.

There are several layers of a war. One of which is the information war, if Russian army bombed the heck of the city that would endanger the info layer of the war. Not a smart invasion basicly.
