  1. Presumably it was no coincidence that Alex followed the Ukraine/Poland merger possibility with mention of Hanover. It was by arguably by merging (personal union) with Hanover that Britain escaped invasion by Louise XIV when it became the Kingdom of Great Britain in personal union with Hanover under George I leading to the huge British Empire.
