This might badly backfire for us in UK. Ukraine with UK support from PM will likely call the bridge a legitimate military target. The corollary might then be that Kent and English Channel crossings become legitimate targets for Russia due to training sites.

We in the UK are now all human shields for Truss.

@dethtrain If you believe it fell down, I've got a bridge to sell you :)

If I was Truss I might consider shutting the Channel Tunnel for a while. If a line was crossed, a red line, this might be a legitimate target to stop troops leaving Kent and to make a similar symbolic gesture.

Almost all technologies developed at scale are helped by US defence. It has fingers in all pies. So not necessary to read too much into that. They use most technologies in military, not just obvious ones. Global tech projects I worked on for ten years had US Navy and Army official participants - and that was just for invoice document exchanges. Most computer systems were all developed in US defence funded projects such as DARPA. Musk seems consistent in keeping neutral when his rockets would so easily be militarised and this must be a conscious effort.

We now know what Ukraine would do if US supplied long range missiles.

and if not a terror attack but a legitimate military target due to use for logistics for armies, what targets might Russia consider legitimate, not just in Ukraine

1000 missiles would be poetic justice. It is biblical. "I will give a thousand in your stead."

From an English world point of view (Anglo Saxon as Putin puts it), Biden's message on nuclear weapons sends a culturally, historically understood message of warning not about nuclear weapons but about pressure on leaders from hardliners to be aggressive. The warning says "Back off, the situation has now become too extremely dangerous for loose talk and crazy thinking. Get a grip. We now need to be extremely careful." It sends a subtext message that Biden is feeling dangerously threatened by his own advisors and public opinion that wants him to be more aggressive. It is a strong, very strong, apologetic for being careful. It is assurance that he is aware of the danger and the need to be careful.

@kennztube But as Gonzalo said better than I can yesterday - if you abandon truth it has a habit of coming back and slapping you in the face eventually. The UK might love the fiction that it is not part of this and its own land is unaffected but truth will catch up and slap it in the face soon enough.
