When you get the Politicians out of the mix, soldiers will decide what they need and develop solid equipment that will get the job done, efficiently and cheaply!

As with the A10, I think they should continue building the Pucara! Using up graded materials (fiber carbon), 3D printing, more powerful engines, improved avionics, sighting systems, heavier and smarter weapons, the updated Pucara will be an fearsome weapon platform. In fact I think the Americans should buy the rights to it, because they are researching a spotter, counter insurgence platform now.

It appears that America finally got its head out of its collective ass and applied a bit of common sense to a simple task, instead of over complicating the matter as they usually do.

If steam engines had the last 150 years of development behind them as the oil engine has had, they would be just a convenient as the modern oil-fired engine. Steam power, like the battery has been a suppressed technology. Some say: WWI was fought over steam vs. oil, unfortunately oil won. One suppressed steam tech is a patent that was issued to an inventor who could light a bulb by superheating...one drop of water.

The best of both worlds!

Any proof that it was fictitious!

@thomasohanlon1060 Good thought and I am certain the A1 Skyraider was considered, but, being out of production would be a problem because parts would have to be acquired, production line started, etc., whereas, it is a lot simpler and cheaper to buy a in-production platform off the shelf.
