Calling the ancient germanic tribes "germans" is not at all accurate. The world changed at the end of the "Age of Kings" (AKA "Holy Roman Empire"), the world transformed from independent city states into nations. "United Germany" emerged from the ancient germanic tribes in the mid 1800s, Germany is one of the youngest nations on Earth. The United States is 100 years older than Germany. The independant city states that became "United Germany" had, before that, had nothing to do with each other. In fact, they had all been enemies for most of history. The farthest back that "United Germany" as a nation, or even single people, can trace back it's history is 1525 and the Tuetonic Knights founding the Kingdom of Prussia. Prussia was the driving force behind the founding of "United Germany" and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, communism emerged as the politics of these people in the formation of "United Germany". Karl Marx emerged from this political environment, the Germans INVENTED COMMUNISM!!! What is today called "communism" began as the politics of "United Germany" and the Nazi's were the nationalist communists. There has NEVER in all of history ever been a "right wing evil empire". "Right" refers to those who trace their heritage to the republics of Greece, Rome, and the United States, "Left" refers to those who trace their political heritage to "United Germany", Karl Marx, Adolph Hitler, Vladimir Lenin, and the Soviet Union. German history was extremely muddled, intentionally, by Heinrich Himmler and Joseph Goebels who were desperate to link German history to the Holy Roman Empire. Most of the confusion they created still lives on today, and this video is no exception. Like most accounts of German history you will find, this video is wildly inaccurate and based more on the propaganda of the Nazi party that actual real history. History of the nation today known as "Germany" begins in 1525 with the founding of the Kingdom of Prussia. The ancient germanic city states have absolutely nothing at all to do with the modern state of Germany.

I should also point out that this Nazi propaganda of attempting to connect German history to the Holy Roman Empire is the sources of the false "Third Reich" thing that Heinrich Himmler was attempting to create. The whole idea was that the Holy Roman Empire had been the "First Reich", that was the whole point of the "Third Reich" name... an attempt to claim that the Holy Roman Empire had been the first incarnation of "Germany". In reality, Germany did not exist until the mid-1800's and the founding of the Kingdom of Prussia in 1525 is the farthest that modern nation of Germany can possibly trace its history. Any linking of Germany to the Holy Roman Empire comes from Heinrich Himmler and Joseph Goebels.

@Siegbert85 It might have been the city state that became the Kingdom of Prussia that was founded by a Grand Master Teutonic Knight in 1525, but that is the farthest back that the modern nation of "Germany" can trace its history. Bavaria, Prussia, and the other city states were not "Germany". "United Germany" did not exist until the mid 1800s, and communism emerged as the politics of the unification of the "germanic" city-states into the modern nation of Germany. The modern nation of Germany is a unification of former enemies, not a united ancient people. The idea of "germans" being a single ancient united people that had ruled the Holy Roman Empire comes entirely from Heinrich Himmler and Joseph Goebels. It is Nazi propaganda that lives on too this day. Most of what is written in modern history books is contaminated by this and wrong. "Germany" has absolutely nothing to do with the Holy Roman Empire. Bavaria, Saxony, etc did... but they had nothing at all to do with modern nation of Germany, which can't possibly trace its history past Prussia. It's the "First Reich"...

@Siegbert85 "Germany" was what the Romans called that region, which was inhabited by a wide variety of unrelated tribes that the Romans called "barbarians". Much like today we have names for regions of America like the mid-west or east coast. "Germania" referred to that area which was inhabited by unrelated tribes that were usually at war with each other. "Germania" or "Germanic" is a Roman word that has referred to that area from the time of Rome. That name was, much later, in the mid-1800s, used as the name of the modern "post age of kings" nation of Germany. Prussia led the charge in the formation of "United Germany" and the city-state that became Prussia was founded by a Grand Master Tuetonic Knight in 1525. The nation of "Germany" created by Prussia and the former city states of the region the Romans had called "Germania" had NOTHING to do with those ancient tribes or city-states. The unification of Germany FLEW IN THE FACE of the history of that region. The history of Germany has been INTENTIONALLY mis-recorded to attempt to associate modern Germany with the Holy Roman Empire. This was done by Heinrich Himmler and Joseph Goebels, it is a FAMOUS lie of history directly related to the false history "Third Reich". In fact, this **IS** literally the false history of the "Third Reich"... that the Holy Roman Empire was the "First Reich". That is where your incorrect version of history is coming from.

@Siegbert85 Oh, and what you are referring too was called "East Francia", not "Germany". Bavaria, Saxony, etc... The city-states of "East Francia", not "Germany". Essentially the colonies of the Holy Roman Empire. "Germany" did not exist until the mid-1800's.

There was no state called "Germany" until the mid-1800's and Otto von Bismark. This is why you never hear of a state called "Germany" until that point. England was not invaded by "Germans"... it was "Saxons". "Germany" did not help America in the revolution, Prussians and Hessians did. Etc, etc, etc. You are believing the Nazi propaganda of the "Third Reich", in which the Holy Roman Empire was the "First Reich" and Germany's history is as long as England and France. This is all lies. The modern nation of Germany has nothing to do with the Holy Roman Empire and did not exist until the mid-1800's. The "ancient German nation" was made up entirely by Heinrich Himmler and Joseph Goebels... "The Third Reich". There was no such thing as a "Third Reich", "Second Reich", or "First Reich"... that is the fantasy history of Heinrich Himmler.

Heinrich Himmler's lie of the "Third Reich" is VERY well known and VERY well established history. Germany had nothing at all to do with the Holy Roman Empire, this is FAMOUSLY a lie created by Heinrich Himmler and Joseph Goebels. This is not just history, it is FAMOUS HISTORY!!!
