  2. I'm pretty sure that the A-12 was the earliest versions, prototypes, that the CIA wound up controlling directly... and the A-12s were less capable than SR-71's, not more. This is not America's "Super Spy Plane"... that was the SR-71's replacement "Senior Citizen", which most people know as "Aurora", which was built at Paradise Ranch (which most people incorrectly call "Area 51") and too this day is still operated out of "Fantasy Island" (Diego Garcia).
