Well think your missing the fact you lacked supperb 'British pilots' and maybe the crazy polish ones too. Hitler turning his focus to Russia was a very STUPID thing to do. If 'Opperation Sealion went ahead. We (the British) might have been in a bit of trouble. If Britain fell then the US would have had no airfeilds to strike at mainland Germany. Those fortresses and flying fortresses could not be used from carriers so the US would have had a ton of expensive planes with no way of getting to the target. Thats where it went wrong fella.
