'Class action policies' like what starmer is enacting should be supported by public debate and/ or referendum. For two reasons. The leader and party. Should not be subjected to malicious targetting. We establish the public sentiment on the issue clearly. So it becomes a public decision, not just a political party action. Better intigrated 'direct democracy' would actually help sitting MPs if it was done in the right way. We really do have the technology to get direct public imput. They would be fools not to use it.

Because Starmer did not list anything of consequence in a manifesto. His pledges were at best waffer thin, and then you really can not claim public approval at all. I understand why he did it. After the reaction to Corbyns manifesto. But it is a snide way of conducting ones self. I would not like to think future elections will play out that way. We should know what parties intend to do. What they stand for. They should absolutely be judged on if they deliver that or not. Sneaking policies on each other. Is a very underhanded exchange.
