  1. He lost international credibility after the 'night of the long knives' . Nobody would trust his posturing and deals after that. He made himself target number one. He knew he had to go for Broke. He thought it was a master stroke to give him control of Eastern Europe. But it cost him the trust of world leaders. It was a massive own goal. He went to war because negotiation an diplomacy was no longer on the table for him.

  3.  @goldbullet50  lol. You keep saying nobody opted for peace. As Churchill said. 'You can't negotiate with a tiger when you have your head in its mouth.' Poland did not see themselves as German territory. Germany should have got the message. People will always fight for their sovereignity. Germany have no claim to Polish territory.
