Yeah... there is no surprise and no "pivot" in this. But Sam did give Rubin a bit too much benefit of doubt. Anyway... I don't even think Rubin is the name he wouldn't mention.

Sam Seder apparently doesn't know shit about what Sam Harris' "base" is. He seems to somehow think it's the same as Dave Rubin's fanboys - it's not.

@hughtubecube Hmm.... I don't really find this convincing. You had to get 12 minutes into the podcast before there was anything other than vague insinuations and strawman sound clips. And then ... when she finally gets to concrete critique she does exactly what she accuses Sam Harris of doing and is so selective in addressing what he said that it brings into doubt whether she's arguing in good faith (combined with the strawman soundclips). Sam DID actually address the question of police violence in proportion to demographics. She pretends he didn't. ...and ... just the way she manipulates the audio of any quotes with distortion and underlying music, should give you a hint that she is not addressing the subject matter in good faith. And yeah ... identity politics IS toxic and YES, it DID contribute to Trump. A lot of people are getting insanely tired of it and if they don't follow politics regularly to see how vile Trump is, I wouldn't be surprised if they voted for him just because of the illiberal lunacy we regularly see from the far left.

My God, this is stupid. I submit that this channel has been wrong about Sam Harris and a few other of these guys all the time. Anyone having followed Sam Harris with just a bit of integrity have known all the time what Sam Harris stated explicitly in his recent podcast. Sure, Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro, Dave Rubin, Dennis Prager are idiots - but there has been no "group" here. Sam Harris has always said that he regarded this IDW stuff as tongue in cheek and newer taken it seriously. He has always argued consistently against the religious, conservative, pseudoscientific and Trumpist nonsense coming from these guys. His only sin seems to be he talked to these guys. Sam Seder, Emma Vigeland (and Michael Brooks, had he been alive) are the only ones being surprised about what Sam said. There IS NO "pivot".

@hughtubecube ... OTOH... - listening to her 2016 interview with 2016 - she sounded perfectly reasonable at that point. I don't know what happened to her, but I can respect her approach back then and the way the challenges how much patience one should have with the unreasonable people ... and I think I even agree with her on every single example of who those unreasonable people are (with the exception of Douglas Murray who I agree with Sam Harris on). People like Dave Rubin and Dinesh D'Souza fully agree are complete idiots. ... and I even agree that Gad Saad has shown a blatant lack of judgement and have been pretty arrogant about it being pointed out to the point where I don't regard him as an honest player. I actually fully agree with her about Dave Rubin and Sam Harris was totally wrong about him in that 2016 podcast. - which Sam seems to have realized now. I didn't even agree with Sam back then that Rubin had a "journalistic agenda" ... Rubin wouldn't know journalism if it hit him in the face. His idea of "giving people enough robe to hang them selves" is just laughable. Sam Harris was wrong back then. She was right - and Sam has realized that now (I'm prepared to admit that was a bit late) She has some really good points in that interview from 2016 ... but she comes across in the latest podcasts as simply not having a good faith approach.
