  1. The problem is that 1) Ezra wants Sam to have a different discussion than the one he had. Sam wanted to talk to Murray because of the way he was treated (which, let's not forget, included violence). They had to talk about what the scientific topic was as a part of that. But Ezra wanted him to talk about politics... Sam is very explicit about this. Including in the clips played here: "I'm worried about the social penalty for talking about these things" THAT was the topic. 2) Ezra was simply not honest about the public smearing he had done when confronted with it. His nice words in 1-1 situations (the emails, the podcast) doesn't match the actual stuff published.
