Hmm... So ... China is taking a principled position on this, because they see that it's incoherent to argue Donbas should be Russian, but Tibet and Taiwan shouldn't be independent. And Turkey don't want an independent Kurdistan. The question seems to boil down to how to handle such separatist regions. ... and yes, Kosovo is a bit of that puzzle too.

@user-op8fg3ny3j Yeah.... but also ... Ukraine gave up it's nuclear weapons for a guarantee that it's borders would be respected. ... It's hard to claim that Russia word means much in these treaties (the Minks agreement too).

Hmm... those "beautiful" women look a bit under aged to me ... creepy?

There's quite some way from being a conservative with a dislike for post-modern left-wing ideologies to being a fascist...

@gkagara Not sure what you're arguing against. I didn't make any claims. I just tried to reason about what motivated Turkey and China

Hmm... seems this lesson should have been learned with the Sack of Rome.

Well ... if Trine Bramsen wasn't just generally incompetent ... I would be inclined to believe her.

I think we have to doubt whether the warm weather is actually due to "luck"

@gkagara I'm perfectly aware of how we historically got to the current situation. As I said, I'm just trying to reason about what could motivate those countries to criticize Russia now.

@samr9680 Not sure Turkey's inflation problems are just "due to economic sanctions from the US".

ewh... that was creepy

It's scary... There seems to be a weird masochistic trend in politics (in Europe, but especially in the US) that the more a party screws you over the more popular it becomes. It's not just people voting Republican in the US despite their consistent efforts to ruin life for everyone. Young people now voting for all the Climate Science Deniers is sadly ironic.

I can assure you that mink are not at all cute. Put your index finger near one if you doubt me.

As a Dane... The example of the irrational anti-democratic Trumpism in the US is casting a shadow of warning over elections. No one likes the prospect of a return of fascism. ... And... Russia is casting a shadow too.

I think it's probably pretty accurate. Putins idea about a continuation of anti-russian history is just absurd nonsense, but he is of course right that it's probably not a good idea for a country run as an organized crime syndicate to have a neighbor speaking almost the same language and having the same religion and sharing a lot of history become an example of a prospering liberal democracy. But maybe that's a reason in it self that he shouldn't be allowed to dictate what other countries decide for themselves.
