  1. A lot of these words have Danish versions today Sometimes with slightly different meanings. "Sky" means cloud in Danish.

  2. This is why French in a way is easier to learn to write than English - despite it also having weird spellings. Since you can usually count on on the same combination of letters being pronounced the same way. ... like "-eaux"

  3. "Bleg" in Danish means "pale" (in English) ... Probably cognate with "bleak"... so ... And the word for black is "sort" - cognate with the German "schwarz". And curiously ... Horse colors in Icelandic use both the word "svartur" (for a completely black horse, also in the ears). And "Bleik" for a bleaching color variant which also gives a stripe along the back.
