+Vospader21 We kinda of have to :) It matters a lot to the rest of the Western World whether the US maintains status quo of corruption (Hillary), goes fully insane (almost every GOP candidate) or moves towards a real enlightened democracy (Bernie). The subject of climate change alone is enough to make the 2016 US election important to everybody on the planet.

Nothing Bernies has said would be controversial or extremist in Europe.
11
Patricia Holmes Canada? ... I mean... you can't go south, since there will be a wall ;-)
10
Mirquella Santos Wanting to end the death penalty does not equal letting convicted murderers out of jail. It's a non sequitur. Anyway ... any sane discussion of that issue has to consider the fact that several innocent people have been killed by the death penalty too.
9
Mirquella Santos And I ahve zero doubt that Anders Breivik have committed horrible crimes and society owes him nothing. However... No country to date have had a zero errors death penalty. Anyway ... it's still besided the point. We didn't discuss pro/cons of the death penalty. We discussed that you claimed Bernie would let convicted murderers out on the street.
9
I'm Danish... I can confirm everything he said. Including the fast and very professional treatment of a near family member with cancer - twice.
8
Peter Gram Mortensen ... I'm not sure Mexico can afford a wall greater than the Chinese.
7
Mirquella Santos So why not just solve you "no doubt" argument, by eliminating the death penalty, but also eliminating the possibility for parole when in "no doubt" ?
7
Peter Gram Mortensen ... a self-fulfilling prophecy
7
Peter Gram Mortensen ... not to mention, that our minister of science seem to have creationist tendencies.
6
Mirquella Santos Sounds like pure fantasy to me. When have Bernie said anything remotely interpretable as wanting to release convicted murderers?
6
Peter Gram Mortensen ... mostly because all 3 liberal parties in the Danish Parliament have each their issues where they forget real liberal values and let a few stupid individuals dictate their policy instead. I mean...as an example... when has it ever been a liberal (as in libertarian) value to be science deniers?
6
Patricia Holmes I have to warn you. We have climate deniers here too.
5
Mirquella Santos Silly argumentation... So who will help the victims of the state? ... you?
5
Mirquella Santos Well... living in a country without "stupid governors" - which btw. also have the capability to deny obviously innocent death row inmates a re-trial (Glossip) - I can only say that you have more to fix than meets the eye.
5
There was no "but" between the condemnation and the discussion of the Nevada process. There was a "but" between discussing violence and harassment and mentioning that the Sanders campaign had been shot at. DWS is simply lying.
4
Imagine how much more historic it would have been to have the first women president, if the election actually had been legit.
4
Peter Gram Mortensen Not all welfare is anti-liberal. Having public schools paied by taxes is not. You need public education to ensure everybody has the same possibilities for creating their own future regardless of the finansial situation of their parents. That everyone is the master of their own future - but from a level playing field is a core liberal value. Many who call them selves "liberals" (in Europe) tend to forget this. Likewise... your freedom only goes so far as to where it infringes upon others. Again a core liberal value many self proclaimed "liberals" forget. To be more specific... when Villum Christensen and the LA party deny climate change they are doing so to justify them taking liberties with out atmosphere at the expense of others. That's not "liberal" ... that's just stupid.
4
... or - another possibility: Trump is lying. just saying.
3
The Hillary campaign is living in a fantasy world if it thinks it doesn't have to do anything to earn the vote of Bernies supporters.
3
I've heard nothing from the Clinton campaign which indicates she in any way feel she has to earn the vote of Bernies supporters. I can maybe understand why she expects Bernie to try to convince his Democrat supporters to vote for her, but the independents owe her NOTHING. She's gonna loose in November.
3
Dan Kelly Do you mean "liberal" as in the US or as in Europe?
3
Peter Gram Mortensen That was obviously our also not-so-liberal PM from the other "liberal" party. As I said ... all 3 liberal parties in parliament have elements which have completely misunderstood liberal principles - in different ways.
3
Joe Buckley Yeah... if my children didn't have to grow up in a world suffering the consequences of GOP climate denial, I would probably also just make popcorn.
3
Don't trust Hillary.
2
Speaking about deceptive Hillary talking-points... you forgot her blaming Sanders for de-regulating the banks in the last Dem. debate where she said he was the only one on the stage voting for it. Thom Hartmann has a piece about it: https://youtube.com/watch?v=UQj3EUVIIIs She is not to be trusted.
2
Peter Gram Mortensen I'm not sure the term "economic liberal" makes much sense if you are not fully ideological liberal. Else it's just anarko-capitalism ... which I don't regard as "liberal" ... you cannot cherry-pick an ideology like that and only use it's principies when it's about no one telling you what to do.
2
Mirquella Santos ... and your solution seems to be to be sure to kill death row inmates before anyone have time to have second thoughts. Impressing.
2
Peter Gram Mortensen nonsense... Allowing for re-trials to correct errors is not the same a having pardons by elected politicians. ... oh, sorry Peter... I think I replied to what you quoted from Mirquella ... and I seem to agree with your.
2
Mirquella Santos "If an inmate is found to be innocent and the evidences supporting that are there, then that person deserves to be pardoned and rewarded" ... but you just killed him in order to prevent a (quote) "stupid govenour" from pardon him ?!? ... Wouldn't common sense say that the better way to solve that problem was to revoke the possibility for elected politicians to single handed overturn court decisions ??
2
Mirquella Santos So - who's going to decide when there is doubt? You? Do you really think judges today feel they are in doubt when then sentence people to death?
2
Mirquella Santos So ... what you are saying is that all the others (whom you are not 100% sure of) has been sentenced to death when there was actually reasonable doubt?
2
Mirquella Santos But that's outrageous then... the institution you defend then obviously kills many people about whom there's actual doubt about whether they are guilty.
2
Mirquella Santos Not at all .. .it was your own statement. Unless of course you meant to say that you have no doubt about any of the people sentenced to death. In that case the conclusion is different.
2
Peter Gram Mortensen Most of GOP (except maybe people like McCain) doesn't even have equivalents in Denmark. Cruz and Trump would be far off the scale and make heads explode. Rand Paul would probably fit "Liberal Alliance" - if it wasn't for his views on abortion. Btw... your translation of the Danish Party names probably give the wrong picture of what these parties actually stand for.
2
Peter Gram Mortensen Yeah... but I figured that since both are climate deniers, they would fit in about the same category of crazy.
2
Greenwald had no integrity in advance... so...
1
Ahh... you're not being fair to Hillary. She actually started being right on healthcare ... now she says #nowecant
1
Joe Manchin needs to go ... vote him out ASAP.
1
Sorry ... I just don't buy that Andrea don't like Bernie on a personal level. That doesn't exclude her being bias to Hillary, but she doesn't seem like a bad person.
1
Darrell I understand your feeling about not voting for a liar. But if you think Trump is honest you're making the mistake anyway.
1
Well .. .you can have it both ways... but then you'll have to drop the two-party system. ... and something tells me she likes that.
1
If you want to have a viable 3rd party, you need to FIX THE BROKEN ELECTION SYSTEM! ... Other countries have living multi-party systems, but the US election system naturally converges to a 2-party system. Running for dog-catcher won't change that.
1
Qingeaton "stay of a witness stand" ?? ... come on... do you really mean all the Republican circus hearings count?
1
Who has the power? Is it you, the patient - or is the the federal government? ... or is it the insurance companies?
1
Fuck ... this is just stupid. These idiots are to blame if Trump gets re-elected. I despise Mitch McConnell and I think it's perfectly OK to protest with "vote you out". ... but... "We know where you live" ?? ... That's not democracy.... That's EXACTLY what feeds all the rights campaigns to make people "walk away".
1
What will ultimately be the end of civilization is not a meteor, super volcano or a pandemic/zombie apocalypse. ... it's human stupidity.
