  1. Remember - if you use the word "liberal" as an insult to someone, it means something totally different in Europa, compared to the US. In Europe the word has retained it's original meaning and using it as an insult would be because you regarded classical liberal values (like John Locke, etc...) as bad (and probably in opposition to either conservatism or socialism). In the US I guess it just means someone without a principled ideology and/or no fiscal responsibility ... or at least that's what those who use it try to imply?
