  1. "The opposite of faith is certainty" ... hmm... interesting "definition" of faith. Dawkins defines "faith" as: Faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of, the lack of evidence. Personally I think the latter definition is less vague.

  2. Darren Corrigan My concern was mostly that what people experience as "certainty" is highly subjective. Many religious people accuse atheists for claiming to be "certain" that god does not exist. Should we then be suspicious of atheist? Nahh... Dawkins definition makes it explicit when there's good reason to believe something.

  4. ᅚᅚ antonym ... yes... but still, it's very close to a definition - a definition which is not the same as I would have expected.

  5. Irony Yeah... well... the only thing that worried me with that way of thinking of faith was how it is sure to be used to blame atheists that they are "certain" that there's no god. But "certainty" means a lot of things here and it's subjective when you think someone behaves as "certain".
