@darylfoster7944 That is incredibly short sighted. People always talk about how the world of "over populated" or how there's "no more room". There is plenty of room, in space, with little to no evidence of intelligent life in our solar system like us. That is dark age thinking (The world is flat only Europe exist or the Chinese Middle Kingdom philosophy etc..). The space is out there, in space, along with the resources to grow and expand. While we have the population and levels of industrialization on international level we currently have we need to find away to utilize it.

@darylfoster7944 That's what people said about it about the new world once upon a time so much so that explorers had to beg for funding to prove that it was worth the investment or when they were trying find alternative trade route to asia. Ironically both were triggered by being cut off from traditional trade routes due the the cost exceeding the benefit of the old system. Why wait for it to get to that point though? Do we really have to bleed the planet dry before we considered moving to greener pastures? You may say the cost are exorbitant but there is ore in the asteroid belt and water on multiple planetary bodies. Yes it's in it raw form and yes it we won't have shipped back to us by next business quarter but it's well within our grasp right now. If we were to say power our space craft with nuclear power and break down water molecules to make hydrogen fuel as opposed to producing world ending bombs.

The UN only woks if all the counties involved, including the smaller nations, form a federation in mutual societal advancement for all members. That means contributing brain power, man power, and military power to advance the interests of all nations involved. Then it can enforce the laws they pass along with building up the societies of all member states. The UN does not have this though. It has no teeth, or legs on which to move, and so no one listens to it. Give it fangs and a body from which to operate then people might give it a second thought.

They just want a better life and that's achievable but not the way western countries do it. Importing cheap labor to shore up lagging native birthrates or offshoring industry and letting the corporations run rampant in third world countries while they manipulate local governments into unfair agreements. That's not helping... that's just a lazy advanced form of exploitation or colonialism given a facelift.
