@Andrew Does that take away from the theory? When early Yamnaya and fertile crecent farmers and herdsman first introduced these techniques to the hunter gathers living around them it must have seemed like magic. So being the superstitious tribal shamanist that they were they developed religions and cults around them. The native americans thought Cortez was a God at first because he rode on a horse and had forged armor/weapons on him. Imagine being a primitive hunter gather and seeing some other tribe of people come into to your land with mastery over animals you hunted (rode them, drank there milk, made acholic beverages from the milk, defeated you in battle) and had shining bronze armor & weapons. It probably seemed like magic and so they defied the animals (and maybe the people who taught them to do this as well).

It's not hard to guess why. Having extra weight on you in a time where you never knew where your next calorie was coming from and nothing was guaranteed was probably view in a positive light like it was 300 or so years ago. For people living as hunter gathers where survival was even harder that may have been thought as a divine quality and religion devloped around it over time. We are born out of our mother youknowwhats and likewise people use to shelter in earth (caves & underground). Our mothers offer safety, shelter, and abundance and caves/earth also offers these things freely as well. In past fertile women were plump women and caves offten in mountains with natural sources of water found within.. you can see how analogies were drawn. That's the theory as I learned it although I'm sure it's outdated now.

What's the one thing common to people in these reasons? Answer: Cattle! At one time cattle were scared and viewed in metaphysical light. Obviously people stopped doing this but early people's just transitioning from the stone age to bronze age the horse, cow, pig chicken, and eventually grains were viewed as gift from the Gods or even God's themselves. That's the simplest explanation for horned helmets existed in all these places. Whether it cattle, oxen, or aurox they were found in the mythologies in all these places to varying degrees of significance. When animal domestication was a new I'm sure it got merged with the shamanism of hunter gathers who had only recently a few millenia before aquired the technique.
