It's the individualistic culture of America. Many cultures coming heere are more communal, so people help each other out in different ways, that includes sometimes giving each other money to start businesses. That's something that's frowned upon in many generational american cultures which again stems from individualism. The thing is, no man is a island and as much as people like to parrot that saying, I'm really not sure how many actually believe it.

Ideally we should be all be able to live independently on our own by 25 or somewhere in our late 20s. However if that doesn't happen and you are fortunate enough to have parents that allow you to live with them you should be actively trying to improve your situation. That means paying for your all your own bills, living frugally, going to school for realistic things if your unskilled (not taking out gigantic loans you cannot afford to pay back to do it), working, paying for groceries, helping with the chores around the house. Were not living in the 80s, 90s or early 2000s anymore. The good times are over. Were in the midst of a recession bordering on depression. The national debt is sky high and inflation is through the roof. The soup and bread lines could very well be opening back up in the near future if they haven't already. Boomers who have controlled all the wealth for generations are no actively going broke or homeless upon on reaching retirement age despite having saved or have a pensions. The good times are over. Everybody's gotta pull their own weight now if they are able.
